The surge in AI usage has left humans with fear and excitement as it continues to replace several human chores in daily life. While some debates concluded artificial intelligence is a risk to civilization, other experts say that computer science research will bring a positive transformation in the way a human works, talks, or interacts with the audience. However, the only thing several researchers prove is that AI will never get away, and is growing huge with innovations.
A Global Study Reveals Pessimistic Updates About Employee Skills
The Upwork Research Institute collaborated with the New Global study and interviewed more than 2500 global C-executives, freelancers, and full-time employees. The search results concluded that artificial intelligence is not aligning itself with many employees. It also identifies a disconnection between the experience of the employees and the actual expectations of the managers.
While research concludes that 96% of executive-level managers are leveraging AI for good results, 77% of employees said that artificial intelligence has increased workload, and has created challenges.
Employees Unable to Meet Productivity With AI
Not only this, but the research added that an estimated 47% of employees said that they are unaware of how to achieve the productivity targets expected by their employers through artificial intelligence.
The new global study’s other research concluded that an estimated 81% of executive-level managers have increased their employees’ work, owing to the inclusion of artificial intelligence. On the contrary, 65% of employees said that they were struggling with the employer’s productivity demand.
Freelancers Are Showcasing Improvement
While C-suite executives are facing disappointment from the full-time workers, they claim that freelancers show “commendable results” outpacing the employees.
With improved productivity, freelancers have been said to double the business outcomes. The outcomes were as follows, “organisational agility (45%), quality of work being produced (40%), innovation (39%), scalability (39%), revenue and bottom line (36%), and efficiency (34%).”
AI Fails To Unlock Productivity
While artificial intelligence is expected to leverage business and is being largely invested by esteemed organisations, it is largely failing to meet the expectations of executive-level managers.
Kelly Monahan, the managing director and head of the Upwork Research Institute, talked about how AI is failing to complete the challenges given by employers, and the reason behind it. He said,
Our research shows that introducing new technologies into outdated work models and systems is failing to unlock the full expected productivity value of AI. While it’s certainly possible for AI to simultaneously boost productivity and improve employee well-being, this outcome will require a fundamental shift in how we organise talent and work.
An AI Enhanced Work Model
Manohan further talked about overcoming challenges and suggested creating an “AI-enhanced work model.” The Upwork CEO said, “This includes leveraging alternative talent pools that are AI-ready, co-creating measures of productivity with their workforces, and developing a deep understanding of and proficiency in implementing a skills-based approach to hiring and talent development. Only then will leaders be able to avoid the risk of losing critical workers and advance their innovation agenda.”
