Amid the much-coveted Microsoft Build 2024, the multinational corperation came with another grand event, the Microsoft Special Event (Also mentioned as Microsoft Surface Event 2024). The event which took place on Wednesday, May 20, 2024, in Microsoft’s new campus, covered special updates related to Artificial intelligence and Microsoft’s collaboration with Lenovo, Asus, Dell, and others.

1. Advanced Co-pilot Integrations in Microsoft 11

In the event, Microsoft announced Co-pilot’s incorporation in the areas of Windows 11. Now artificial intelligence will be able to provide suggestions, edit files within File Explorer, and answer the notifications we receive.

In addition, the Co-pilot is now receiving OpenAI’s new GPT 4o model, which allows the Artificial Intelligence to respond.

2. The Launch of Co-pilot Plus PCs

One of the greatest announcements in Microsoft special event was the Copilot PCs. In the event, Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, in the announcement mentioned how Microsoft is bringing the “AI Wave to the PCs”.

The mentioned specifications of Copilot PCs are,

  • It involves Arm-based Snapdragon X Elite and Qualcomm Processors. It will also feature Intel and AMD Chips.
  • The chips integrated into the PCs will have Neural Processing Units which are specifically designed to empower new features. Hence, according to Microsoft, the Co-Pilot Plus PCs will be 58 per cent faster than the original PCs. 
  • The announcement also stated that not just Microsoft, but multinational corporations like Lenovo, Dell, Asus, Acer, and HP are looking forward to supporting the new “Co-Pilot Plus devices.”

3. The Recall Feature

Not just faster than the other PCs, the newly-launched Co-pilot Plus “Recall” has taken Microsoft’s update by storm. The Recall feature tracks user activities on the Personal Computer. With near-photographic memory capabilities, it can even hold the conversations you are working with.

4. Upgrades For The Surface Pro

Microsoft’s recently released Surface Pro transforms the last generation Intel Core Ultra Processor to Snapdragon X Elite and Qualcomm from Plus Chips. Along with the pace faster than 90 per cent, it comes with an OLED display panel option.

Pricing and Specifications: The Surface Pro is a 13-inch PC starting range $999.99 and comes in four varied colours, blue, beige, platinum, and black. The device is compatible with a new Surface Pro Flex Keyboard. It works when attached or detached from the device.

5. Swifter Than “MacBook Air” A Surface Laptop

In addition to Surface Pro updates, Microsoft announced a new series of Surface laptops that feature AI-ready Snapdragon X Elite and Chips. With a refreshed design with a thinner and organic touchpad, Microsoft claims the surface laptop is 80 percent faster than the previous generation and offers video playback of up to 22 hours.

Pricing and Specifications: The new Surface Laptop 6 has two display options, 13.8-inch and 15-inch, and its price range starts at $999.99. Meanwhile, the laptop comes in four varied colours which include Blue, Beige, Black, and Platinum.

6. Adobe and More to Copilot Plus PCs

Microsoft has announced a partnership with companies like Adobe to upgrade their applications according to Copilot Plus PCs. According to the update, the ARM64 versions of Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Firefly, and Express are available on Copilot PCs. Additionally, the Illustrator and Premiere Pro, which are available in summer, will add up to the AI features of Adobe. Other applications that will profit from CoPilot Plus are DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, Cephable, LiquidText, and Djay Pro.

What is Microsoft Copilot?

Launched on February 7, 2023, Microsoft Copilot is an Artificial intelligence chatbot developed by Microsoft. It depends largely on a cited source, writing songs and lyrics, Microsoft Copilot is based on a large language model.

Initially introduced under the name of Bing Chat, in 2023, Microsoft began branding under the name CoPilot and at the 2023 Build Conference, Microsoft announced to integrate CoPilot into Windows 11.
